How to Study Smart??
DO YOUR OWN OUTLINES
• Don’t start this until after “for some other good reason” section is over
• Consult as many sources as possible
FOR EXAMS
• Exam archives for law library webpage; See White and Anderson exams
• Memorize black letter law (50% of study is done)
o Not all raised, have to identify the legal issues
o “Certain facts raise certain legal issue, while other facts raise other legal issues.”
• Should be able to make up your own hypos for each legal rule; if you can’t you won’t be able to understand the law.
PRACTICE EXAM PROGRAM – sometime in October
FOR WHITE’S EXAMS
• “Many ways to the right answer”
• They have easy, medium, and hard issues
• Don’t overlook the easy issues!
STAY WITHIN THE TIME LIMITS
PICK THE ISSUES TO DISCUSS
• Easier issues – spend less time, but don’t overlook them
• Hard issues – allow more time for these issues
FOR WHITE, DON’T SPEND TIME ON:
• Memorizing cases
• Section numbers of laws
ADDRESS BOTH SIDES OF ISSUES (‘A’ PAPERS)
ANSWER IS MORE OF A LEGAL ARGUMENT
